Breckenridge Snow Sculptures


Weather permitting the snow sculptures will stay up until the night of Sunday, February 5, 2017 until approx. 7pm and then they will disappear under the darkness of night- just as magically as they appeared!
Breckenridge offers packages to satisfy the needs of winter travelers. Breckenridge packages can include lodging, air and ground transportation, activities, event passes, lift tickets and trips to the spa. Choose from our many package offerings or custom build your own package. to shop some of our lodging options.

Where may visitors park to see the event?

On Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29: All Free Event Parking will take place in the CMC lot off of Highway 9 in Breckenridge (107 Denison Placer Road). There will be plenty of signagne to guide you to this lot. A Special Event Shuttle will be running from the CMC lot to the event from 10am to 6pm both days. This will be free transportation for all event guests. Busses will run frequently so guests will never wait too long.

All other days, free parking is available at the parking lot off of Airport Road- free transportation to the event from the Airport Lot will be provided.
Most of Dowtown from Park Avenue to Ridge Street and most downtown lots are now pay parking. Please Click Here for more information about pay parking in town.

Free public transportation is also available throughout the town from 6:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m., provided by the Breckenridge Free Ride. Maps are available at Event Headquarters located in the Riverwalk Center at 150 West Adams Avenue, The Welcome Center on Main Street, Breckenridge Station and on each bus or click here to find out more about the Breckenridge Free Ride. The closest bus stop to Event Headquarters is the F-Lot, which is serviced by most bus routes.

Please do not utilize the F-Lot Transit Center off of Park Avenue as a turn around or drop off area for cars. The transit center is for buses only.

Parking is prohibited in all Town of Breckenridge operated parking lots between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. during the months of Nov. - Apr. Parking restrictions are strictly enforced. Sleeping or camping in vehicles is not permitted in any Town lot or public street.
Other restrictions may apply.
Always check signs before parking.

Where should private charter buses park and drop off/pick up?
Private charter buses may utilize the F-Lot Transit Center near the Riverwalk (Tiger Dredge) Lot to drop off and pick up guests. Buses may not park on Park Avenue or in the Tiger Dredge Lot. Buses will be directed to park in the satellite/free skier parking off of Airport Road and return to the event site to pick up guests. For more information about parking please click here.

Team China won Gold in the 27th annual International Snow Sculpture Championships with “Mermaid, ” a piece that depicted a swimming mermaid.

  • Team Sweden won Silver with “4 (Ever) Wheels Reflection.” The sculpture depicted two cars tied together, an expression of both freedom and dependency.
  • Team Mongolia-Erdene won Bronze with “We are One Family, ” a piece that reflected the idea of animals coexisting with humans and nature.
  • In a first-ever tie, Artists’ Choice was split between Mongolia-Erdene and Mongolia-Tserendash.

During competition week, high temperatures in the teens and twenties made for excellent carving conditions. An official awards ceremony took place Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center. Winners receive medals and recognition from the international snow sculpture community – though no prize money is awarded, all teams receive travel stipends, meals and lodging. The result is one of the world’s most prestigious snow sculpting events, where teams are known to take risks and come together in the spirit of camaraderie.
