You should call Breckenridge Ski Area and ask what they plan to have open.

Also, ask if they will be running the gondola.

They typically open Peak 8 1st as of the past few years. There are 2 new condo places ($$$$$) One Ski Hill Place & Crystal Peak Lodge.

There is another condo complex up there (built mid 70's I believe) called SkiWatch. Have lots of 2 bdrms there. Should be somewhat reasonably priced vs the newer higher $$$ options. Those are your ski in/out options up there condo wise unless you try Grand Lodge.

If they are running the gondola, then try Mountain Thunder lodge. This is down in town but close to the gondola (or relatively as close as you can get condo wise which would still be a few minutes walk away). But they might provide free tranport (call to check), plus you have might have access to the amenities at One Ski Hill & Crystal Peak (again, double check this).

Preferrably it is better to stay in-town so you can walk to everything but if they only have Peak 8 open...then it gets down to how important it is to be close to the slopes to stop, take a break when you want vs riding the shuttle or gondola down.
