Breckenridge Recreation Center
In the Recreation Center expansion of 1996, the rock climbing wall was built, which converted a racquetball court into 1, 400 square feet of climbing. This wall was constructed using a “freeform” method allowing for a wider range of features and realistic design. This wall has areas for bouldering, 3 top ropes, and 10 lead climbing lines. A completed online Climbing Waiver is required for all climbing wall activities.

Climbing Passes
Climbing passes provide access to the climbing wall to experienced and screened climbers. Passes are available free of charge to all Recreation Center users who have already paid for admittance into the facility via daily admission, punch passes, a month pass or some other form of Recreation Center membership. Patrons may not climb without a paid admission.
All climbers wishing to use the wall without a staff’s assistance must hold a current pass for bouldering, top rope or lead climbing. Passes are available to those who have successfully completed an orientation to the gym and to bouldering and/or by completing a skills-assessment with a climbing instructor to ensure proper use of the gym. If you are unsure whether your assessment is current, please ask one of our friendly climbing staff.
Orientations and skills assessments are available everyday afternoons/early evenings at no charge. Please contact the instructor on duty to schedule an orientation or skills assessment at 970-453-1734.
Adults can belay their children as long as the parent has a top rope climbing pass and the child has a current waiver on file.
You must be at least 12 years old to have a bouldering pass.
You must be at least 14 years old to a top rope or lead climbing pass.
**Highly experienced, underage climbers who would like to possess top rope or lead climbing passes may have their parents contact the Outdoor Programs Coordinator at 970-547-4324 for consideration.
