Breckenridge operating hours

The much anticipated Breckconnect gondola connecting the town of Breckenridge to the base areas at Peak 7 and Peak 8 was announced March 13, 2006. The Town of Breckenridge and the local ski resort agreed to develop two service-oriented villages at the bases of Peak 7 and Peak 8. Included in this agreement was the gondola to provide transportation and very little retail development. The gondola was the last major hurdle to overcome.

Breckenridge Ski Area’s BreckConnect Gondola has done a lot for Breckenridge and its skiers.

The eight-passenger Breckenridge Colorado gondola, which opened Dec. 30, 2006, after 20 years of discussion, helps connect the town of Breckenridge with Breckenridge Ski Area by whisking passengers to the bases of Peak 7 and Peak 8 within 10 minutes.

In the past, skiers had to sit on crowded buses to reach the ski area’s base areas, but now they can pay $10 on weekdays and $15 on weekends to park in the Miners and Tailings lots directly off of Main Street and hop on one of the most modern gondolas in North America. (Free parking is available off of Airport Road, with bus access to the gondola.) The Breckenridge gondola cabins soar over the pristine Cucumber Gulch, a wildlife habitat. At the end of the day, skiers can take the Skyway Skiway Breckenridge, from Peak 8's lower Four O'Clock run, to the lots.

Gondola Breckenridge brought more attention to Breckenridge Ski Area and increased Breckenridge real estate activity by creating highly desirable ski-in properties; the Breckenridge gondola rises above luxury homes and makes a stop in the prestigious Shock Hill neighborhood, where residents can step on and off the BreckConnect gondola Colorado and ski back to their Breckenridge homes.

The town of Breckenridge paid about $6.7 million for the Breckenridge Co gondola, but within the first year, the town recouped more than $1 million from increased transfer taxes from Breckenridge real estate sales. The town and Vail Resorts Development Company are now working together to build upscale condos, a hotel, restaurants and shops, in order to further integrate the town of Breckenridge and Breckenridge Ski Area via the Breckenridge gondola.

The Breckenridge gondola rides spans 7, 592 feet and rises 396 feet. Each of the 121 cabins carry up to eight passengers and their equipment in an enclosed gondola Breckenridge, made up mostly of windows to maximize scenic views. The Breckenridge Colorado gondola carries about 2, 800 skiers an hour from the parking lot to the base area.

The BreckConnect Gondola is to run daily July 1 to Sept. 6 2010. The Breckenridge gondola hours this summer are to be from 8:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
